Ronald McDonald House Welcomes $20,000 Pork Quilt Auction Donation
Allison Kesler - Ronald McDonald House Manitoba

Farmscape for April 17, 2015

The CEO of Ronald McDonald House Manitoba says the $20,000 raised for the charity through the auction of a pork industry themed quilt comes as unbelievable news.
Wednesday evening, as part of Manitoba Pork's Annual General Meeting, a quilt made by Christine Kynoch, the wife of outgoing chair Karl Kynoch, to observe his retirement and raise money for Ronald McDonald House was auctioned off by Winnipeg personality Ace Burpee and sold to Hylife and Maple Leaf Agri-Farms for $20,000.
Ronald McDonald House Manitoba CEO Allison Kesler says she's looking forward to learning more about the quilt and expressing her thanks.

Clip-Allison Kesler-Ronald McDonald House Manitoba:
Yesterday morning I received a phone call from our special events manager Pat Battellino and she said, you know, I just have the best news for you.
I'm just about to make your day.
She went on to tell me that she was listening to Ace Burpee and he was mentioning live on the radio that the quilt had been made and it had been auctioned off that evening at the AGM for $20,000.
That's how we really heard about it for the first time.
I understand that Ace was there and he had been talking about it.
We knew that there was going to be a fund raising aspect to the AGM in support of Ronald McDonald House but never in a million years did we think that this was going to happen.
I understand that the chairman of the council, who is stepping down, is just an amazing gentleman and his wife played a huge role in his success and his life and in the auction of the quilt.
We just have a ton of people that we need to get in touch with and thank.
Some of these individuals are new to us from what I understand so I'm really looking forward to saying thank you and hopefully bringing some of these individuals into the house to provide them with a tour and show them what we're going to be doing with those dollars by helping our families.

Kesler notes and additional $5,000 donation has come in in recognition of the quit since the auction.
For Farmscape.Ca, I'm Bruce Cochrane.
